1. Purpose of Job Profile
The Project Manager - Telecom leads telecommunications projects from planning through implementation and acceptance. This role manages project scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, and risk while coordinating customers, suppliers, and delivery teams to achieve safe, compliant, and timely outcomes.
2. Responsibilities and Outcomes
a. Project Planning and Delivery
Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, milestones, and workforce plans
Lead telecom project implementation, ensuring work is completed on schedule and meets agreed requirements
Coordinate project activities across engineering, construction, commissioning, and other delivery teams
Monitor progress, identify dependencies and delivery risks, and take action to resolve issues
Ensure project execution aligns with customer requirements, company processes, and applicable standards
b. Financial and Resource Management
Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and resource plans
Track costs and financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
Monitor project changes and assess their impact on scope, cost, schedule, and resources
Support accurate invoicing and timely customer acceptance in accordance with contractual terms
c. Customer and Supplier Coordination
Serve as a primary point of contact for customers and coordinate regular project communications
Manage supplier and contractor performance to support quality, schedule, and contractual requirements
Establish acceptance procedures and resolve delivery issues with customers and suppliers
Maintain clear project documentation, status reports, and records of decisions and changes
d. Quality, Risk, and Continuous Improvement
Identify and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor quality and ensure corrective actions are completed when work does not meet requirements
Track project performance against key performance indicators and report progress and deviations
Drive change initiatives and continuous improvement to strengthen project outcomes
e. Team Leadership and Safety
Lead, support, and mentor project team members, clarifying responsibilities and delivery expectations
Promote collaboration and effective information sharing across project teams and stakeholders
Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements across project activities
Promote a safe work environment and take appropriate action when unsafe conditions or practices are identified
3. Qualifications and Skills
Relevant education or equivalent experience in telecommunications, engineering, project management, or a related field
Experience managing telecommunications projects, including implementation and delivery activities
Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, risk management, quality assurance, and change control
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to coordinate customers, suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams
Proficiency with project management tools and project reporting
